The William M. Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College is pleased to welcome former Champaign resident Lynn Carter back "home" to the dome for a talk on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter mission. Ms. Carter is a alumnus of Parkland's "College for Kids" program. She attended the University of Illinois in the Department of Astronomy, graduating in 1999 and then obtained her Ph.D in Astronomy from Cornell University in 2005. She currently is an astrophysicist with the Smithsonian Institution. She is also the daughter of Champaign City Manager Steve Carter. We're very excited to bring her back to Champaign! Admission is only $1 at the door. The talk is part of the Staerkel Planetarium's 20th anniversary activities.
Lynn's web site is http://www.nasm.si.edu/ceps/staff/lcarter.cfm
Thanks,
Dave Leake
